Abstract

|
|
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of ABA and ethephon treatments on coloration and fruit quality in ¢¥Kyoho¢¥ grape. Both cluster and berry weights were increased by ABA and ethephon treatments. Soluble solids and titratable acidity were not affected by both plant growth regulators. PAL activity was significantly increased by ABA treatment, but not by ethephon treatment. ABA and ethephon treatments resulted in increments of anthocyanin content. Also, PAL activity in the skin was closely related to the accumulation of anthocyanin. Total phenol content was increased by ABA treatment, but not by ethephon treatment. In ABA and ethephon treatments, fructose and glucose contents were significantly increased compared to control, but then rapidly declined toward final harvest.
